christina aguilera vs diana rossmixed by miles tighe / dmc"Dirrty" is a pop/hip hop song performed by American singer Christina Aguilera featuring rapper Reggie "Redman" Noble. The song was written by Aguilera and Redman along with Jasper Cameron, Balewa Muhammad, and Rockwilder for Aguilera's second studio album Stripped (2002). It received mixed reviews from music critics. "Dirrty" was released in September 2002 as the album's lead single (see 2002 in music). It was unsuccessful in the U.S., only reaching number forty-eight on the Billboard Hot 100. It was more successful outside the U.S. and topped the UK Singles Chart and the Irish Singles Chart. At the 45th Grammy Awards, "Dirrty" was nominated for "Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals". The song is best remembered for its accompanying music video, for which Aguilera was allowed creative control. The video brought her sexuality to the forefront and depicted various sexual fetishes, from mud wrestling to sthenolagnia. It eliminated the teenybopper, "girl next door" image that she had accumulated from her previous work. "Upside Down" is a song by Motown legend Diana Ross. It was the first single taken from her 1980 album "Diana" and hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on September 6, 1980. The single was also a big hit internationally, reaching #2 in the UK, and topping the singles chart in Italy, Norway and Switzerland. The song was written and produced by Chic masterminds Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards, apparently on a whim after Ross told the legendary songwriter-producer duo that she wanted a song her children could dance to. The music video was unique for its time in that Diana Ross is not actually seen singing the song in the video. Clips of Diana Ross dancing in various costumes, interspersed with still photos, are played on a loop and repeated many times over while the song plays.
