"Potential Breakup Song" is a song written by American teen pop duo Aly & AJ, and is the first single from their second studio album, Insomniatic. (See 2007 in music). It was a very successful single in the summer and early fall of 2007, topping many video countdowns, and becoming Aly & AJ's most successful single to date.

There are two versions of this song that are on the radio. One is the official album version, while an edited version is played on Radio Disney. The edited version says "gettin' to me" instead of "gettin' me" in the chorus. In the bridge, "without me you're gonna die" is replaced with "without me you're gonna cry."

The song is said to be about Joe Jonas, after he and AJ broke up.

Much of the melody is modeled on Del Shannon's "Runaway".

The single is being used as the title song in an upcoming Japanese horror flick X-Cross, as well as a Japanese cover of the song by Ami Suzuki.
