run it!

mixed by stacy mier / ultimix

"Run It!" is the debut single by Chris Brown released in 2005. The song was a hit in the U.S., peaking at number one and remaining there for five weeks. "Run It!" also performed well worldwide, peaking at number one in Australia and New Zealand and number two in the UK. It has been certified Platinum by the RIAA. It features Juelz Santana.

The music video portrays a school dance inside a gym, where Brown meets a girl that he suddenly is attracted to and wants to dance with. At the end, the security guards arrive, and the whole gym is evacuated. However, as soon as the guards find nobody there, they start dancing. The video received nominations for Best New Artist and Viewer's Choice at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards, but did not win either of these.

rumor...

A rumor was spread over the internet that in the song, Brown sings the line, "My AIDS ain't gonna slow us down". This rumor is false. The actual line is, "My age ain't gonna slow us down", referring to Brown's relatively young age, having been 16 years old at the time of the song's release.

chart quirks...

In the UK, "Run It" sold more physical singles than the number 1 single, "Nasty Girl" by Notorious BIG feat. Diddy, Nelly, Jagged Edge & Avery Storm. However "Nasty Girl" overtook "Run It" due to download sales, a rule introduced by The Official UK Charts Company in 2005.
